Oil pulling, my experience...

I am a firm believer that natural is better. When it comes to my teeth, I am so picky about how I take care of them. For years, as a good little dental patient should be, I flossed and brushed every single day. But I began to notice after I brushed my teeth, my gums were slightly irritated, nothing that would alarm me at all but I also noticed something else ... a gross white film within my mouth every time I brushed. I would have to remove this white film and it happened every time I brushed. I don't claim to know what it was ... all I know is that I didn't like it and when you don't like something ... that should be a little red flag ... right?

Well, I began to search for ways to keep my teeth healthy. And I came across oil pulling on the internet and was extremely interested in what people had to say about it ... being a researcher by heart ... I researched away.

Before I go into what I feel it has done for me ... I just want to say ... do not believe everything you read on the internet (including my blog! try it out for yourself and see).

Anyway, as I did my research what I began to notice was this...

Well known websites and even dental companies will "debunk" this method in a heartbeat. Even a well known site that will prove if an idea or rumor going around is true or false, debunked this method. (Btw, I hate the word debunk, it's just what is used out there in rumor land.)

I have to question all of it and the articles kept saying there is not enough studies or evidence to prove this works. (Which I find absolutely ridiculous, you can't tell me these huge companies haven't tried to test this method, they test everything else that includes chemicals and I have to ask myself why? You should too!)

I finally came across a website where a dental hygienist did a study on a well known toothpaste and found out it had blue plastic balls in it that she tried to break down in alcohol and nail polish remover, to no avail. They would not break down and she also noticed patients that would come in and have them lodged in-between their gums. Needless to say, I will not ever use toothpaste again unless it's 100% chemical free. Plus the fact that fluoride is well known to effect your thyroid and it poisons you slowly. Just read the back, it says if swallowed call your Poison Control right away! Who in their right mind would use this? It's because it's the norm and everyone does it so we quietly go along with the masses.

Anyway, this may sound gross, but I have not brushed my teeth in a week. I went from using name brands to "so called" natural name brands and when I found out the natural brand had just as much junk in it and the big brands ... I went on my adventure for the best way to keep your teeth and gums healthy, naturally.

Then in the midst of my research, I found a girl that tested oil pulling for over a year and guess what? She's still alive, lol. Check it out here, http://trinaholden.com/healing-cavities-a-true-weve-done-it-story/ she has a lot of great information and resources for you to look at.

Back to my story, I'm not gonna try to take a picture of my teeth and prove to you what it's done, but I will say, my breath is better, my teeth do feel healthier and one thing I did notice was that my gums are a pretty, light pink and not a reddish color they were before. (I could go into more, but research nylon bristles and plastic toothbrushes.)

I know I haven't tested this long enough, but I can tell you, I feel so much better about this method and I am a freak when it comes to my mouth! I want it squeaky clean and anti-cavity! I actually look forward to swishing coconut oil around in my mouth, at first it seems gross, but now it's like working out, you just do it because you know it's good for you. I am still currently using a plastic toothbrush (my natural one is on it's way) and will brush with the coconut oil and activated charcoal, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! It is grainy enough to remove plaque and it makes your teeth feel extra clean. Warning, your mouth will be black but it's oh so worth it. You can buy a bag at your local, natural health food store. Plus, it just might help get rid of the toxins from the fluoride, just a thought, not scientific fact ( but I'm even questioning all that scientific hoopla now).

I found an all natural toothbrush, I will let you know how I feel about it when I receive it.

I use this coconut oil  I absolutely love it and it's made the original way.

Test it out, it can't hurt ... no worse than a mouth full of fluoride that articles have sworn that it's not the same type of fluoride that was used by the Russian Army to make their enemy more docile!? Hmmmm, didn't know there was more than one fluoride out there.

Anyway, do your research, just because it's been done all of these years, doesn't make it right.

If life is giving you a red flag on the inside ... it's trying to tell you something ... listen.

New Found Love

I love black. Love it.

Anyone that knows me, knows this! What's that saying, "I'll continue to wear black until they invent a darker color." Well that's me.

I also love finding the perfect black dress and I think I've hit the mother lode.

I don't know where I've been or how long this brand has been around but For Love & Lemons has some super-cute clothing and I am just now discovering this.

I came across them on Pinterest and it led me to Revolve Clothing and that is where I fell in love.

I know all you girls are always looking for that little black dress and this brand delivers! The style and thought they put into not only the front, but the back of the dress too, is something any girl will appreciate!

They have the perfect dress for vacation, cocktail party, business or just hanging at the beach...I am so in love. Can't wait to order my first For Love & Lemons dress ...

Anyway, here's a few of my favs!

Oh So Inspirational ...

I love a girl that's beautiful inside and out and this one has it all. Beauty, brains and a huge heart! This is why I had to interview such a special person that I get the privilege to shoot on a weekly basis. She is a new up and coming blogger that gets life and gets fashion! When we get together, it's always great conversation, good coffee and lots of laughs.

Mariah is a true inspiration. Her goal is to be a positive role model for girls and women everywhere. She expresses the beauty and pain of life in such a way that anyone can relate.  She is a positive role model - even down to her photos, she won't let me edit them at all! What you see is what you get! Again, she IS as real as it gets, inside and out.

So here's a little bit about Mariah of Oh So Boho Blog...

Tell me a little bit about yourself? Where are you from?

MM: I was born and raised in East Tennessee.

What's your favorite fashion piece?

MM: Black skinny jeans. Hands down.

Favorite makeup or beauty remedy?

MM: A concealer slightly lighter than my skin tone for under my eyes / my t-zone. It really brightens up your face.

Your fav food?

MM: Sushi

What do you like to do for fun?

MM: Play guitar, write songs, take pictures and paint.

What's the first thing you do when you wake up?

MM: I HAVE to have coffee. And then I usually try to read part of a devotional and stretch. (I usually end up on Pinterest).

What's one product you can't live without?

MM: Coconut oil. I seriously use it for everything!

What do you want to accomplish with your blog?

MM: I would love to be a full time musician and blogger. I want to help people with fashion, life and with anything I can really ... I definitely don't have all the answers (or even the majority of them), but I want to share my experiences with other people (especially girls) so that maybe they can learn something a little easier than I did.

I want to show people the beauty that comes from our pain.  That's why I say that I am writing about the process. Life isn't something you were born knowing all about, it's a process to understand it.

I've always believed that we are never the heroes of our own story, our rise from darkness is always lit by the works and words of the people around us. I survived the hardest times in my life because God put people in my path that shared their stories with me, gave me advice and really just loved me. I want to be that for other people.

. . . . . . . . . .

Lots of great advice and style is what you'll get from her blog, it's worth checking out...

Making Your Dreams Reality

One thing I love to do is talk about making your dreams a reality... creating your "paradise life" is what I call it.

One reason why I love to talk about dreams is because ... I used to think your dreams coming true was impossible! But the more you focus on your dreams, the more they will become reality and that's exciting.

There are people out there that have no idea that you can take life by the horns and control it. My life was so out of control I thought I was losing my mind at one point. I had such severe anxiety that it was completely controlling my daily life. I wouldn't and physically couldn't step out of the house at times or go to the store without feeling like I was going to throw up or collapse out of pure fear. Anxiety is a b*tch that won't let up! She wants to fight and she wants to win! But I slowly realized I was the one with the power. During those anxiety attacks, there were key people that began to show and tell me that I could control my thoughts (I used to think that whatever came to my mind was who I was and I could do nothing about it) now I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that what you think about is exactly what you bring about! I knew this to be true on the negative side of things and now it was time to turn around and think in a powerful, positive way.

And guess what? You can and DO have the ability to make your thoughts positive ones ... on purpose. (I wish I knew this when I was younger!)

It can take time to get your brain on the right path. I always say getting your mind on the right track is like driving a car without power steering... it can be so hard to turn around at times but when you do ... a whole new world has opened to you, the world is your oyster and you can live the life you dreamed of ...

Life has a way of speaking to you without you realizing that you are hearing it. There are dreams knocking on the door of your heart just waiting to come to life! (What a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Prov 23:7) Your dreams are chasing you, not the other way around!

I heard a saying that has stuck with me and it's truly powerful ...

"To desire a thing is to already have it."

If you believe this, you are that much closer to your dreams becoming a reality in your life.

One of the reasons I started this blog was to help me keep my dreams alive. It's so easy to get off track of let daily life get in the way ... but I am determined to have my dreams come true .. and one dream of mine is helping others have their dreams become reality.

There are couple ways I do this to keep my mind thinking positive thoughts...

1)  A dream board
2) Writing daily in my dream journals

I constantly write in my journals the dreams I want, It's like writing your very own love story to yourself. It keeps you focused and it stirs excitement that your dreams are on their way to you.

I was talking to a girl one time and she was confused and lost about the direction of her life. I asked her what she wanted out of life and she said, "I don't know." And I said well that's exactly what life will give you ... a bunch of "I don't knows." A plain, boring life. But doing these simple things can help turn your life around.

I have a couple of dream boards, I have a fitness dream board hanging in my bathroom so when I do my hair or makeup, I can look at it while getting ready.

You can cut out or write anything you want, your weight, city you want to live or travel to or a fitness dream board.

One of my number one dreams is having a beach home or living at the beach. I already have the house picked out and it is my screensaver on my computer. I see it everyday...

When you start doing these things, you will begin to design your every day, the way you want it.  Not to say there won't be obstacles along the way, there always will be ... but if you stay focused, you will conquer every single one of them.

I would love to hear about your dreams coming true or if this has helped you ...

Cheers to your dreams becoming reality!
